We have a long history of caring for families, having opened on Brixton Road in 1842. Back then, the undertaking was only a part of what we did, with building and decorating also playing a large part in how we helped people. We used to be known as Maxwell & Sons, until our name changed to Maxwell Brothers in 1879 and now more recently we are Ashton Maxwell. We now focus solely on arranging funeral services, with a wealth of specialist knowledge and expertise that we will use to help you. We are always striving to set the bar in funeral standards, so you can expect nothing but the utmost compassion and professionalism from our team as they guide and support you.

The funeral director can give you a full list of what they can supply. They are likely to charge for these additional products and services, so you may choose to take care of some arrangements without their involvement, or you can use a different supplier.
1. This fee (which is sometimes called the interment fee) is the charge made for digging and closing a new grave, or for reopening and closing an existing grave.
2. In England, Wales and Northern Ireland, you will usually need to pay doctors’ fees as well. This is the charge for two doctors to sign the Medical Certificates for Cremation.
