Originally Speckmans Funeral Directors, we have been serving local families since the 1980s and will now continue to do so under the name Meynell & Mason Funeral Directors. As we support the wider community in County Durham, we aim to arrange and conduct funeral services with the utmost respect, compassion and kindness. Our funeral home is a historic building, which was used by Meadow Dairy Company Ltd in the 1930s. It holds a little part of Wingate history and today hosts our professional team of Funeral Directors and Memorial Consultants, with two private Chapels of Rest. As we are located on Front Street, our Wingate funeral home is easily accessible for the surrounding areas, including Thornley, Wheatley Hill and Trimdon.

1. This fee (which is sometimes called the interment fee) is the charge made for digging and closing a new grave, or for reopening and closing an existing grave.

2. In England, Wales and Northern Ireland, you will usually need to pay doctors’ fees as well. This is the charge for two doctors to sign the Medical Certificates for Cremation.
